The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) condemns in the strongest terms possible the murder of the Somali journalist who was killed by armed assailants near his home in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district on Sunday evening April 21, 2013, bringing the number of journalists killed this year to four.

Unknown assailants shot to death Mohamed Ibrahim Rageh, who was working for the Somali National Television (SNTV) and Radio Mogadishu on Sunday evening around 5:30pm, near his home in Dharkenley District in Mogadishu, Somalia.
“Mohamed completed his work and was taken to his home around 5:00pm and after a while, we were informed about the bad news of his death.”
Abdirahim Isse Addow, the Director of Radio Mogadishu, “He was very good journalist and we mourn for his loss.”
Late Mohamed Ibrahim Rageh was among the journalists who recently returned to Mogadishu. He was among 14 journalists who stopped working as a journalist in 2009 due to insecurity and fled for Nairobi, while some of those journalists currently work at the SNTV and Radio Mogadishu. He had lived in Kampala Uganda as exile until he relocated to Mogadishu recently and started working for Radio Mogadishu and SNTV.
The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) condemns the murder in the strongest terms possible and sends condolences to the families, friends and colleague who might miss him and calls urgent investigations into the murder and bring the killer to book.
“We condemn the murder in the strongest terms possible and call for an urgent investigations in the murder case.” Mohamed Ibrahim, NUSOJ Secretary General said, “We mourn for his loss and send my sincere condolences to the families, friends and colleague of Late Mohamed.”
