Agreement of the PCF, LFI and Greens according to Jean-Luc Mélenchon

13 July, by
An article in “l’Humanité” revealed the French Communist Party’s proposal to appoint Huguette Bello as Prime Minister. Huguette Bello was a deputy for 23 years in the GDR group led by the PCF. The PCF proposal is supported by Jean-Luc Mélenchon who announces that the PCF, LFI and Greens are in agreement. The PS is meeting today with its National Council to give its position. At the start of the week, Olivier Faure, first secretary of the PS, announced his candidacy for the post of Prime Minister.
According to information on July 12 from our colleague “l’Humanité”, the French Communist Party has proposed Huguette Bello, president of the Réunion region, for the post of Prime Minister.
“According to information from l’Humanité, discussions having made little progress since Monday, the name of the current president of the regional council of La Réunion has been proposed” by the French Communist Party, writes our colleague. It indicates that 2 MP supported by the majority of the local government, Karine Lebon and Frédéric Maillot, were part of the GDR group including the PCF MP before the elections.
“L’Humanité” recalls the support of the president of the Réunion Region for LFI during the presidential and European elections:
«Without belonging to LFI, she notably supported, in 2022, the candidacy of Jean-Luc Mélenchon for the presidential election and appeared in last position on the list rebellious to Europeans. It would therefore not undermine the ambitions of the FI.»
«She is also an experienced woman, locally elected today as regional president and yesterday as mayor of Saint-Paul. Having crossed the corridors of the Palais Bourbon for 23 years (between 1997 and 2022), she knows parliamentary mechanics perfectly. », underlines “Humanity”»
“Huguette ticks a lot of boxes.”
Jean-Luc Mélenchon publicly expressed his support for this PCF proposal:
Huguette ticks many boxes (…). Huguette is a woman from an overseas territory in the Indian Ocean, she is a person whose nature of life and sincerity of commitments no one will suspect,” indicated the head of LFI for whom “Huguette is a woman, and we are in the age of women ; Huguette is a racialized woman, and the new France is racialized (…), the president of a community that she took to the right through the ballot box and around whom the entire local left finds itself. »
Jean-Luc Mélanchon adds that “at least three groups have agreed on the subject”: “the “Insoumis”, the Communists, the Greens
.
Olivier Faure, first secretary of the PS, announced that he was ready to be Prime Minister. The Socialist Party is due to hold a National Council this Saturday to give its position on this subject.
